E-Bike Safety

There will be an e-Bike safety information presentation during ACT on Wednesday, September 2 in the Eagle Theater. This presentation was created jointly with the Los Altos Police Department. The first 50 students to come to the presentation will get a free doughnut. If you have a student who rides an e-Bike, please encourage them to come to the program and sign-up on Minga!

Counseling Department

Counselors hosted a senior Letter of Recommendation Workshop during ACT this week to support students with the college application process. Counselors will start senior check-ins on Monday, August 31st. During this meeting they will confirm students are on track to graduate, discuss college entrance requirements and postsecondary plans, and connect them with the College and Career Center for further resources in their post-secondary planning process.
There have been some questions about the Out-of-District Coursework requirements. Please use the guidance below or go to this link for more information.

August 28th was the last day to add a new class to the students’ schedules and add the Health/Edge X Imagine Learning online.

Thanks to the social studies department, every 11th and 12th grader visited the College & Career Center in the first two weeks of school. Our overarching message is that we are here to support ALL students in exploring options after high school and making the most of growth opportunities while in high school. We are available before school, during brunch, lunch, ACT, and a student’s free period- no appointment necessary. Please encourage your student to visit us!

This week we kicked off our fall college representative visits, which will continue until the first week of November. Anyone can view the list of visiting schools on the CCC events calendar. We share who is visiting with students via the CCC weekly bulletin and the daily announcements

All are welcome to attend the MVLA College Fair @ LAHS on Tuesday, September 22 from 5-7 PM. See below to register!

Wellness News

We had an awesome time welcoming new and familiar faces during our vision board activity this week! Next week we will be hosting a student favorite, diamond painting, in the wellness center on Friday, September 4th during ACT. Your student will have the opportunity to create their own bedazzled keychain. This mindful craft helps students to focus on the present moment by intentionally placing each rhinestone in its place. The repetitive and rhythmic motion is often experienced as soothing and relaxing. Please encourage your student to reserve their spot on Minga under Juan Arreola.

Interested in what we’ll be hosting next? Check out our September bulletin board for more upcoming activities and events!
