New Student Registration

Which type of student are you registering?

  • Current 8th-grade students attending our feeder schools (Blach, Egan, Crittenden, and Graham) are pre-enrolled in the Mountain View Los Altos High School District.

You do NOT need to register unless:

    • You enrolled after Oct 15, 2025

    • You want to request a transfer

    What happens automatically:

    • Assignment letters were mailed November 17

    • SIS, course selection, and Google setup info will be sent mid-January

If you enrolled in middle school after October 15, 2025, you must register through our online registration system. Registration for the 2026-27 school year opened January 2026.

Want transfer to a different MVLA school?

Students who wish to request an intra-district transfer to an MVLA school other than their neighborhood school must do so by submitting the Open Enrollment Transfer form (Español). Transfer requests are reviewed on a case by case basis and very few slots are available as both schools are close to capacity. Applications will be accepted Dec 1 - 18, 2025. Please note that your student remains enrolled in the high school to which they have been assigned until you receive confirmation that your transfer request has been granted.

  • Registration for 2026-2027 School Year is now OPEN

    How to Register

    1. Complete Online Registration

Your school assignment will be generated. You can also find out your school assignment by using our Address Street Search.

    2. Schedule Your Intake Meeting

Once we have received your online enrollment form, the Registrar at your assigned school will contact you to schedule an intake meeting. Please allow 1-2 days to be contacted.

    Requesting a Different MVLA School:

    • If you would like your student to attend a different MVLA school, submit an Open Enrollment Transfer request.
    • Open Enrollment Transfer Requests will be accepted Dec 1-21, 2025. Registration prior to requesting a transfer is not required.
    • Your student remains enrolled at the assigned school until transfer is approved.

    • Placement Testing:

The only placement testing that is held for Los Altos HS is for Mandarin Chinese.
For all other subjects, including math, students self-select their course/level.

    • Mandarin Placement Test / Evaluation:

The test is for interested incoming students who have prior experience of learning Mandarin (weekend Chinese school, private tutoring, after school programs, etc) and would like to get their proficiency level tested so they can sign up for the right Mandarin class.

8th graders who are currently enrolled in Egan or Bullis Charter School's Mandarin program should sign up for Mandarin 2. These students should not take the test unless recommended by their Mandarin teacher. The test is mainly for students who have prior learning experience through weekend Chinese school, after school programs, and private tutoring.

    • The Mandarin placement test will be given in person this year.

We will give an in-person Mandarin placement test on Wednesday February 11th (3:30-4:30 p.m. and 4:45-5:45 p.m.) Students will sign up for the test using the Google Form here.
