Our mission is to provide the highest-quality free tutoring to support the success of all LAHS students.

  • How can we help?

    Please visit us at the Tutorial Center! This space is for you! You are welcome to visit us if you would like to work with a tutor, need a space to study or complete assignments, or if you just need a space to hang out. Tutors can help you prepare for upcoming exams, brainstorm and strategize studying techniques, discuss and break down course concepts & problem sets, provide organization support, and much more!

     

    Tutoring Programs

    • Drop in for Tutoring! View our subject schedule. Tutors are available to help you throughout the school day, ACT, and after school!
    • Tutoring by appointment – Request an appointment to meet with a tutor or email the Tutorial Center Coordinator Ms. Paredes at esmeralda.paredes@mvla.net.
    • Remote tutoring! Contact Ms. Paredes for more details.
    • Tutoring during ACT! Sign up via Teachmore (there are tutors in classrooms and the Tutorial Center).
    • If you need support after school hours or on the weekends, contact Esmeralda Paredes via email at esmeralda.paredes@mvla.net to learn about more options.

  • Where to find us

    The Tutorial Center is across from the Library, next to the temporary attendance office.

  • Hours

    Monday-Thursday: 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

    Friday: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM

    *Closed the last 30 minutes of 4th and 5th period

  • How to Prepare for a Tutoring Session

    • Bring all necessary course materials: computer, books, notes, assignments, rubrics, syllabi, etc.
    • If there are specific questions you need assistance with, please bring them with you.
    • Arrive on time to meet with your tutor.
    • Sign in to the Tutorial Center upon arrival (there is a Chromebook at the entrance and QR Codes on the tables).
    • Tutor.com

    Tutor.com is a free resource available to all students at Los Altos High School. Students can get individualized help from a live tutor online. Instructions on how to access this resource can be found by clicking here.

    • Brainfuse

    Brainfuse HelpNow is a live, online tutoring service for students from Kindergarten to 12th grade that also provides writing analysis, skill-building resources, and collaboration tools. Completely FREE for students.

    Provided through the California State Library, HelpNow helps tutors and students communicate in real time, enables writing assignments to be expertly evaluated any time of day, and offers a broad selection of practice tests for all levels in a number of subjects.

    It can be found on the Children & Teen Learning Resources page, the Career & Skill-Building page, and also at MountainView.gov/BrainfuseHelpNow. A Library card is not required to access the resource.

  • Peer Tutors (Volunteer or For Credit)

    Hello, Los Altos High School Students!

     

    We need you! We are seeking additional Peer Tutors for the 2025-2026 school year across all subject areas. This is a great opportunity to get involved in your community and help students! It is also a great opportunity to learn new skills, receive credit or volunteer hours, and gain experience for your resume!

    Adult Volunteers

    We are in need of additional volunteers at Los Altos High School! If you are a community member, college student, or parent and want to get involved, reach out to Esmeralda Paredes at esmeralda.paredes@mvla.net. Volunteering can be in-person and online!
