From October 19 through October 23, 2026, our school hosted a week-long celebration of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Students and staff participated in interactive in-class workshops, engaging hands-on activities, and guest speaker presentations designed to spark creativity and innovation across all disciplines. This event is generously supported by the LAHS PTSA with parent volunteers Dora Yuen and Kara Calhoun leading the way--thank you Dora and Kara!
Highlights of the week included special theater talks in the Eagle Theater on Tuesday and Wednesday. During these block days, classes attended presentations featuring two guest speakers per period, as well as a life size humanoid robot demonstration.
We want to extend a warm thank you to all of our visiting speakers, dedicated teachers, parent volunteers, and enthusiastic students who made this year's STEAM Week such a memorable and inspiring experience for our entire school community!

Next week we will be hosting two different wellness activities. The first is a digital wellness workshop hosted by survivor-advocate and peer educator, Cynthia Wang, on Wednesday October 28th during ACT. Cynthia is a high school student and the founder of The Safe Link, a youth- and survivor-led initiative focused on online safety, digital exploitation, and sextortion prevention for students and families.
As a survivor of online sextortion, Cynthia incorporates her experience into interactive workshops to provide accessible and student-centered resources and conversations around these issues. We are excited to welcome Cynthia and have her share about online safety and sexual exploitation prevention from the perspective of a student. Your student can reserve their spot in advance on Minga under Juan Arreola.
The second activity we will be hosting is a fall craft - Ghost Lollipops, on Friday, October 30th during ACT. Your student will have the opportunity to transform lollipops into ghosts and write a note of affirmation or appreciation. This simple activity encourages positive self-talk, gratitude, and meaningful connection with others. Students can keep their affirmations as a reminder to be kind to themselves or gift their creation to brighten someone else’s day! Your student can reserve their spot in advance on Minga under Juan Arreola.
