FINANCIAL AID: The 2027-28 FAFSA form is now OPEN! For many colleges, completing this step early in the process will give you the most merit and grant opportunities. Please come to the CCC for help (please know/have your Social Security number).
* The CADAA will open on 10/01 for students w/o a Social Security number or from a mixed-status family. Paying for College page on the LAHS website.

COLLEGE: Sonoma State (CSU) invites students and families to Seawolf Discovery Day on Saturday, October 3 at 9:30 AM. This is a great chance for prospective students and their families to experience Sonoma State firsthand, from exploring majors and touring campus and housing to connecting with faculty, current students, and admissions experts. CAREER: (FREE) Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp offered by The Mark Cuban Foundation. Students in grades 9–12; three consecutive Saturdays – Oct. 31, Nov. 7, & 14 – from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The AI Bootcamp gives students hands-on experience with cutting-edge AI tools, including generative AI, and explores real-world applications in fields such as healthcare, arts, business, computer science, sports science, and career readiness. Students will also complete a capstone project under the guidance of industry mentors. We encourage applications from girls, students of color, first-generation college-goers, and students from low-income backgrounds. The deadline to apply is Sept. 30. Apply & Info HERE.
CONTEST: The Congressional App Challenge is open for submissions through 10/26/26 (9 PM PST). The Congressional App Challenge is the most prestigious prize in student computer science. COMMUNITY/VOLUNTEER: Save the Date! The Los Altos Community Volunteer Fair is on Sat., Oct. 17, from 11 AM-1 PM at State Street Market, 170 State Street, Los Altos, CA. The volunteer fair will feature tables from 25 local nonprofit organizations actively recruiting volunteers. Students are invited to attend the event and visit each table to learn about local volunteer opportunities that match their interests and availability.
COLLEGE: WashU is hosting a local college information night for students and families. At this session, students and families will learn about academic opportunities, campus life, community engagement, and how WashU paves the way for our graduates’ futures. I'll also answer questions about the application process and financial aid at WashU. Wed., October 14, from 7:00-8:00 PM. Register HERE.
