Students can read the announcements that are emailed daily to learn when and where club meetings are held to attend. Parents also have access to student "Daily News" announcements through our school's website here--it's not too late for students to join a club of their interest!  

Applications for CSF for the Spring 2026 semester are open.  Here is the link to the portal be using. The submission window runs until September 30th. Information can also be found on the school website.

Remember, each school year there are openings for Site Council representatives. If you are interested, there is a new nomination process annually each August. Thank you for nominating and voting for our parent members. We look forward to a productive year!

LAHS has a free tutoring center on campus, daily from 8:00-4:30. We have students and adults here to help students before school, lunch, after school, ACT, and through the day if a student has an open class period. 

We also need more peer tutors in the following subjects at specific times of the day:

After-School Tutors: AP Calculus AB/BC, AP Statistics, Microeconomics, Physics, AP Computer Science

In-Class Support during ACT: Intro to Computer Programming, and Trigonometry

School counselors will continue our senior check-ins through October 7, 2026.

For students applying through Regular Decision who need a letter of recommendation from their counselor, please note that the deadline to request a counselor recommendation is October 6, 2026.

We strongly recommend that students and families review each college’s official website for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding application requirements, deadlines, and supporting materials. Requirements can vary by institution.  Please be sure to plan ahead and allow adequate time for all required materials to be submitted.

Sept. 18 was the last day for students to make grade-level changes without receiving a W (Withdrawal) on their transcript.  Students may still drop classes after today; however, they will receive a W (Withdrawal) on their transcript.

We hope to see everyone at the MVLA College Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 5-7 PM at LAHS! 

Parents of Seniors: If your student meets University of California (UC) minimum requirements, we encourage them to consider the UC Merced Automatic Admissions Program (MAAP). This is a new program, and MVLA is a partner school district. Students opt in via a button in the UC Application, complete portions of the application by Sept. 30, and will hear back by mid-October if they have been accepted; no fee, no personal insight questions, and no activities section. Congratulations to our girls flag football team for their first place win at the Santa Clara Invitational tournament!

Cross Country Varsity Girls finished 3rd, and Varsity Boys finished 5th at the Lowell Invitational on September 12th. 

A heartfelt thank you to the Beckmann family for their generous donation of a new scoreboard for our aquatics program. This meaningful gift will enhance the experience for our student-athletes and our entire aquatics community for years to come. We are incredibly grateful for their generosity and continued support of Los Altos High School!

Girls and Boys Water Polo Varsity are off to a 4-0 start in the SCVAL DeAnza Division and are both currently first in the league. JV Boys are also currently undefeated in the league. Girls JV are currently 1-1. 

We’d like to recognize and appreciate the students who participated in our Suicide Prevention and Awareness Workshop last week. We appreciate their time and willingness to learn the warning signs of suicide, how to support their peers, and the resources available when support is needed. Their participation reflects a meaningful commitment to creating a caring and supportive school community. 

Next week on Wednesday, September 23rd, we’ll be hosting a polymer clay event in the wellness center during ACT. Kneading, rolling, and shaping clay can be soothing and grounding as the repetitive motions provide a calming sensory experience. Please encourage your students to sign up on Minga under Juan Arreola.

Additionally, our CASSY therapists, Neha and Raelani, will be hosting another activity in the quad during lunch on Thursday, September 24th in honor of suicide awareness and prevention month. Please encourage your students to come out and share a coping strategy they use when going through a tough or stressful time. Students will receive candy for participation. 

Yesterday, the City of Los Altos informed us that they plan to install delineators to protect the cycle track (bike lane) on Almond Avenue in front of Los Altos High School this weekend.  The delineators will be placed from Gordon Ave. to Valencia Ave. (this photo shows where the delineators will be located). The delineators are designed to protect bicyclists using the cycle track by preventing cars from entering the track as part of the city’s plan to improve bicycle safety.

The addition of the delineators may impact families during drop off and pick up at Los Altos High School, as well as people driving on Almond Ave. during those busy times if they do not adjust their driving habits. We anticipate that cars waiting to enter the horseshoe turnout in front of LAHS, who are no longer able to wait in the bicycle cycle track, may create a traffic block on Almond Ave. We urge you to help keep traffic moving and not stop or idle on Almond Ave. if you plan to drop off or pick up your student. 

We have also requested additional traffic support as families adjust to the change on Almond Ave. from the Los Altos Police Department and we will have our usual staff available to support student safety. Our recommendation is to wait to pick up your student until traffic around the school is lighter (about 15 minutes after the last bell) or make arrangements to pick up your student further from campus.
