We are excitedly preparing for another great school year at Los Altos High School and we cannot wait to greet our new and returning students and staff! Our first student day is August 10th.

Our staff remains committed to providing students with a world class academic experience as well as meaningful opportunities to get involved—whether through clubs, athletics, performing arts, student leadership, or another of the many activities that make Los Altos High School a vibrant place to learn and grow.

As we begin this school year, our focus remains on creating the best learning experience for every student. We are committed to strengthening collaboration among our teachers so they can continue to learn from one another, share expertise, and thoughtfully respond to the needs of all students. We believe that when educators work together, students benefit from richer learning experiences and stronger support.

We also recognize that every teacher plays an important role in our students' success. Through collaboration, reflection, and a shared commitment to continuous improvement, our teachers provide engaging and meaningful learning opportunities.

Just as importantly, we are dedicated to building a school community where every student feels welcomed, valued, and connected. We continue to grow a culture that celebrates the diverse identities and experiences of our students, strengthens relationships, and creates opportunities for every student, and all members of our community, to thrive. Together, we will continue to build our school spirit, sense of belonging, and community pride that make Los Altos High School such a special place.

We have schedule pick up days on Monday and Tuesday as well as a special Freshman and new student orientation (see details below) and a Freshman parent night as a few early ways for us all to ease into the school year feeling prepared and, hopefully, as excited as we are!

As we prepare for the start of the school year, we want to share the following information regarding our schedule change process to ensure a smooth transition for all students.

We spent several months in the spring preparing for student schedules this fall. Students attended counseling sessions, met individually with their counselors, and were able to adjust their requests in May in anticipation of this school year. There are, however, occasionally errors that need to be fixed on your student's schedule. If your student has a schedule change request, they will be able to fill out a google form that will be directed to their counselor. The counselor will review and follow up with the outcome of the request. The process and form will be sent out after the orientations. Changes will not be made before that time. 

Our school's schedule involves staffing and hiring in the spring based on the courses that your students selected during last school year’s course selection window. These staffing assignments, class sizes, and other school-wide scheduling implications are not able to change in the fall.

The easiest way to get to school is by walking or biking! In an effort to reduce bicycle and pedestrian congestion in one of the busiest areas of campus and improve safety during arrival and dismissal we have reorganized several bike parking areas.
