Wellness Tips

As we begin to wrap up this school year, the wellness team would like to extend our appreciation to all the students who participated in our wellness events and activities throughout the year. We are truly grateful to have witnessed the many ways students took time to care for their mental and emotional health.

With finals approaching, we encourage you to continue making wellness a priority. Take a look at these tips on healthy strategies to support your student in preparing for finals and managing stress.

Counseling Department

College and Career Center

On Monday, the School Counseling and College Career Center took over the 10th and 11th grade social studies classes. Sophomores received a lesson from school counselors to follow up on the work done in the small group workshops last month: completion of a career interest assessment (Holland’s Code), understanding their results and how it relates to extracurricular activities, and introduction to our new and enhanced 4-Year Planning Tool

Juniors reported to the Aux Gym to explore different pathways and connect with community members about postsecondary opportunities. We are grateful for our attendees: California Highway Patrol, Tesla Manufacturing, City of Mountain View, Foothill College MESA Program, the Army National Guard, Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 104, and the County of Santa Clara all of whom discussed opportunities for students to work and/or learn following graduation as well as extracurricular activities and internship opportunities while in high school.

Thank you to the Social Studies department for the opportunity to share this information with students, the PE department for use of the Aux Gym, and Andrea Gorman, former LAHS College & Career Center Coordinator, who volunteered to help with supporting our juniors on Monday!

Seniors who were present on Monday were given access to this slide deck that includes information about the senior checkout process, reminders, as well as helpful information and resources as they launch into adulthood.

Counseling

Attention seniors: the deadline to submit Out of District course transcripts to be included on your LAHS transcript and final report sent to colleges is May 21.  How to Have Outside Coursework Added to Your LAHS Transcript
On Monday school counselors will be presenting in 10th grade social studies classrooms for an engaging lesson that will include a career interest inventory, connecting interests to extracurricular involvement, and a continuation of the 4-year plan which we have revamped! All 11th grade students will be meeting with community members representing various postsecondary pathways in the AUX gym.
