    What is ACT?

    • ACT has evolved over time and revisiting what we are using ACT for, there are mandatory things that need to get done that we use this time for; but what is it about? What is it valuable for?
      • Like the variety of activities that happen. Can work on projects, test students without taking away from instructional time.
      • Why are students NOT going to ACT? Can we look into that?
      • Student Union has been opened up
      • Time for making up Labs
      • Checking in with the kids/ensuring scanning in students using Teach More. Do we need training for Teachmore?
      • Teachers who do not have kids, what do you do?
      • Prioritize ACT- Academic work, test make-up, then voluntary activities should be second. Students make that choice
      • Help from the Teachers- Some do not let students come in if they are not in their class.
      • Use Teachmore with greater frequency to request students coming in during ACT, and monitor if a student has an appt.
        • Require students to make appt to check in so staff can support if students have another appointment
      •  Suggestion for Teachers who don’t have students, walk around and maybe help out other
      • Can we run clubs during ACT??
      • Teacher Students choose- music, take a nap, academics. Suggestion: designated places to go to do X activities- allows students to get out of classrooms where students need to be used for academics.
      • Structured study skills, music lessons and other activities.
      • The testing center utilizes this- send a packet to Alba.
      • Teachers take the initiative to start a conversation with the student who may be too shy to ask for assistance.
        • Suggest best practices of how teachers utilize the check-in time
          • Clipboard for students- write down what you need help with.
          • Ask students who are there if they need help.
