About Rally Class/Sideline Cheer:
- Rally is a class. Rally will be placed as your 8th
period class. You will receive a grade. Will not be a “sport”.
- You will receive Sophomore PE credit Sophomore year and elective credit in your Freshman, Junior, and Senior year.
- You will cheer for football and basketball season and rallies.
- You will participate in all group fundraisers.
SIDELINE CHEER TRYOUT REQUIREMENTS:
- Attend all scheduled workshops (excused if currently participating in a school sport) There will be a 2nd tryout date for those affected. Dates TBA.
- JV must perform the band chant, 1 sideline dance and the cheer learned at the workshop: Must attend stunt evaluation day, May 1st. STUNTS: Must perform a 2 foot prep. Can be any stunt position other than a front spot.
- Varsity must perform the band chant, 1 sideline dance, and the cheer learned at the workshop, as well as an original routine. Music will be supplied. Must attend the stunt evaluation day, May 1st. STUNTS: Must perform an extension cupie and an extension lib. Can be any stunt position other than a front spot.
SUMMER DATES:
- At MVHS July 15-19, 8:30am - 4:00pm (lunch break from 11:30-12:30pm)
- At LAHS July 22-24, 9:00am-3:00pm (lunch break from 12:00pm-1:00pm)
- OPTIONAL: Summer Cheer Camp: JAMZ July 25 & 26 at Silver Creek high school 3434 Silver Creek Road, San Jose, CA, USA
- Camp is expected to be 9am - 6pm each day
- July 29, August 7 & 9: Times TBA
Expected expenses:
- Shoe Link: any white cheer shoe
- OPTIONAL Cheer camp fee: $135
MANDATORY ATTENDANCE:
School in session:
- All football games: home and away
- Basketball games: home quad games
- Any team fundraising or benefit events: absence will result in additional make up time on another fundraiser or game.
- All practices & games:
- For each missed practice day (excused or unexcused) once school starts, you will make up the time you missed by cheering at your opposite game. 1 missed day = 1 quarter
- For each missed game (excused or unexcused) you will cheer for a full opposite game.
- 2 Unexcused absences will warrant an athlete review and can be cause for dismissal from the team upon the discretion of the coaching staff and Athletic Director.
- EXCUSED ABSENCES are any absence that you did not attend an entire day of school due to illness/family emergency. All excused absences should be emailed to me at cccordero3@gmail.com by the parent and absences will be checked with the Athletic Director.
- WORK OR NON-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ARE NOT EXCUSED!
