Career Technical Education (CTE)
The CTE departments hosts primarily elective course offerings that stress real world practical skills and interdisciplinary topics of study. The courses offerred are recognized by the State to develop skills and knowledge that are relevant to local industry needs and where curriculum is guided by industry developments. The CTE department is also home to the Los Altos High School Academy of Engineering and Design, a program that has students apply the skills learned in other department courses during their senior year in an Innovative Design Capstone course to create a real solution to a real problem or improvement in society.

State-of-the-art facilities in the computer lab help students under Don Miller's direction learn Web design and applications. Mr. Miller also serves as the school's faculty technology resource person, the LAHS Webmaster and teaches in the Instrumental Music Department.

Culinary Arts
The program, Patty Fambrini as the teacher, includes the basic skills of food service including sanitation, safety, methods of cooking, stocks, soups, sauces, methods of baking, pastry, banquet set, catering, nutrition, and job preparation. Teaching methods include demonstration, laboratory, and textbook work. Students have an opportunity to cook both individually and in groups and to participate in planning meals.
