Staff Appreciation Week May 11 - 15

In recognition of the vital role every staff member plays in supporting our students, we are excited to celebrate both our certificated and classified employees together during Staff Appreciation Week, May 11–15. This combined celebration is an opportunity to acknowledge the collective impact of our entire team, from the classroom to behind-the-scenes operations, and the dedication, professionalism, and care they all bring to our school community each day. We look forward to honoring and celebrating all of our staff throughout the week.

Bike Service and Safety

This week, LAHS welcomed BikeMobile, a Spare the Air Youth program, to campus with support from the City of Mountain View’s Safe Routes to School Program. Students received free bike maintenance, safety repairs, and education. More than 20 bikes were brought in for service, and students had the chance to learn more about the repair process so they can feel more confident handling basic bike issues in the future.
LAHS appreciates BikeMobile and the City of Mountain View’s Safe Routes to School Program for supporting student safety. The school will also soon install a permanent bike tune-up station on campus, giving students a place to handle routine maintenance before heading home when needed.

Students can pick up books on Wednesday, May 27 at the Student Union.

Wellness

We had an amazing last couple of weeks engaging in activities that connected us to our environment. From rock painting to planting succulents, students were mindfully present as they engaged in these activities.

As we jump right into the month of May, we are excited about our final events that we will be hosting in the wellness center for this academic school year. First up is papel picado or “perforated/punched paper.” This is a traditional Mexican folk art composed of intricate and decorative designs cut into colorful paper that can be arranged as banners or garlands. Your student can create their own papel picado on Wednesday, March 6th during ACT. Please encourage your student(s) to reserve their spot on Minga under Juan Arreola.

For more events in May, take a look at our events calendar!
