Wholistic Teacher Awards

Congratulations to Kelly Coble, Adriana Sanchez, and James Stiltner for earning the "Wholistic" Teacher Award in 2025!
We need your input once again! For over 20 years, the "Wholistic" Teacher Award has honored teachers who not only challenged and motivated students in their classroom, but also showed interest in their students' activities and lives outside of class.

To qualify, a teacher must be an instructor at Los Altos High School for at least two years (including the current school year). In addition, in order to recognize the many great teachers we have at LAHS, the teacher must also not have won the "Wholistic" Teacher Award in the previous five (5) years. The previous five year winners are:

2020-2021: Tory Johnson, Babak Shahrivar, and Jacob Sproule
2021-2022: Krista Greksouk, Nancy Moran, and Adam Randall
2022-2023: Jasmine Mark, Craig Seran, and Sasha Kassel
2023-2024: Lauren Diez, Roger Kim, and Toni Smith
2024-2025: Kelly Coble, Adriana Sanchez, and James Stiltner

Please help us continue the tradition of awarding another fantastic LAHS teacher with the "Wholistic" Teacher Award by filling out the survey below. Students, parents and teachers are all welcome to make nominations. Winners will each be awarded $500 and their names will be inscribed on a plaque outside the library.

Fashion Design

Please join us in celebrating our very first fashion show, “PJ Runway”! Students designed and created their own pajama pants along with a coordinating upcycled top using scrap fabric from their projects, showcasing both creativity and sustainability. The show was full of energy and personality, and our students truly shined on the runway. A special highlight was the 6th period class, who closed the event with a memorable “Finale Walk” together—it was a wonderful way to end a fun and inspiring experience.

Counseling Department

This week we wrapped up the second week of Sophomore Workshops. Next week we will conclude these workshops with just a few make-up workshops remaining. 10th graders received valuable information about discovering the intersection of their skills, interests, and causes they care about and how they can use this information to discover potential career paths.

The deadline to submit an application for online summer school via the MVLA Adult School is coming up- Thursday, April 30 will be the last day to register and submit an application. More information is available on the Adult School website.

Seniors: May 1 is the deadline to submit your Student Intent to Registration to your college/university. If you need support with submitting, please visit the College and Career Center during ACT on Wednesday (or drop in during a free-period, brunch or lunch).

Wellness

Next week, the Wellness Center will be hosting a succulent gardening event on Wednesday, April 29th during ACT. Your student(s) will have the opportunity to paint a pot and plant their own succulent to take home. Gardening encourages a slower pace, grounds you to the present moment, and fosters a connection to the earth. Please encourage your student to take a wellness break and engage in this mindful activity! Your student(s) can reserve their spot in advance on Minga under Juan Arreola.
