LAHS Logo

We are very pleased to share with you the updated Los Altos High School logo! This timing of the new design was motivated by the planned resurfacing of our main athletic field this summer. The current eagle on the field is a high visibility example of the existing inconsistent LAHS branding, so we were excited and eager to update and create a cohesive eagle to associate with our incredible school. We hope you like it as much as we do!

Our former logo was put into use in 2017. Since then, we have also had at least 10 other versions, morphed or completely different, circulating to represent LAHS. This has made our school brand look inconsistent across campus, online, on uniforms and in our school and district communication. Most notable, in different formats, print, electronic, and in apparel, the former graphic was not practical nor was it originally intended to serve as the school’s main visual brand. Add to that, we were frequently using the “LA” that does not belong to us (the very recognizable Dodgers LA).

We contracted with a logo design company who worked with the parameters essential to branding–an image that works in print, apparel (embroidery, hats, t-shirts, etc.) and electronic media and one that can be scaled large or small and still immediately recognizable as the brand. This refresh is meant to give LAHS a clearer, more unified look across campus and in our community. We have to give a nod here to additional motivation from Mountain View High School, whose branding efforts have been very effective in creating a cohesive look to their campus and in the school district.

The final product we received allows us to utilize, and share widely for others to use, a set of school logos in one-color to four-color variations, as well as a set of graphics and fonts that are clear and cohesive to establish a strong, recognizable brand identity in the school, district, and community.

The audiences with whom we have shared the visuals have been enthusiastic and understanding of the need for a consistent brand as end users of the former eagle artwork. We are also looking forward to seeing what designs our community creates using the updated eagle. To that end, we have asked our ASB students to create a new shirt that we can sell in our webstore to anyone interested. You’ll start to see the new logo show up online and across campus in the coming months.

Spring Instrumental Music Concert

Save the Date: LAHS Spring Instrumental Music Concert Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 PM | Eagle Theatre

Experience an evening where tradition meets innovation. From the debut performance of this year's LAHS Jazz Ensemble to the Chamber Orchestra's soul-stirring exploration of Sibelius, Bloch, and the evocative Miriam Danced by the Red Sea, this program celebrates the power of music to move and inspire.
The Los Altos High School Instrumental Music Department invites you to an evening of exceptional artistry on Wednesday, March 25th at 7:00 PM in the Eagle Theatre.

The Program:
  • Jazz Ensemble (Debut Performance): Witness the historic first set of the LAHS Jazz Ensemble, featuring the timeless rhythms of Take the A Train, Doxy, Jordu, and the fusion energy of Birdland.
  • Symphonic Band (Combined 2nd & 3rd Periods): Exploring the haunting beauty of the Scottish melody Tha Mi Sgith, the reflective All That We Are by Carol Britton Chambers, and the uplifting Skyward Spirits by JaRod Hall.
  • Chamber Orchestra: Prepare to be transported as our string section explores the profound emotional landscapes of Jean Sibelius’s Andante Festivo and the structural majesty of Ernest Bloch’s Concerto Grosso. This segment bridges the gap between the classical and the contemporary, featuring the atmospheric Moonlight Flight by Brian Balmages, the spirited A Su Merced, Don José by Nubia Jaime-Donjuan, and the transcendent, ancient power of Avner Dorman’s Miriam Danced by the Red Sea.
  • Wind Ensemble: A showcase of technical brilliance featuring the Florentiner March, Variations on Scarborough Fair, Living Legacy, and the bold, modern Four: On a Remix of Beethoven.
  • Grand Finale: We conclude with an epically funky combined performance of Randall Standridge’s Groovitude.
Reception: Please join us outside the Eagle Theatre immediately following the performance for a reception to celebrate our students!
Tickets: $10 Adults / $5 Students. Available at the door or online here.

Wellness

Next week we will be hosting a workshop in the Wellness Center on the topic of stress management on Wednesday, March 25th during ACT. Your student(s) will have the opportunity to learn about stress, our body’s response to stress, the impact of stress, and some healthy tips on how to manage stress. Students will then have the opportunity to build their own mini sand tray to take home and use as a tool for stress management. Your student(s) can reserve their spot on Minga under Juan Arreola.

Counseling

Adult School’s application and registration forms for online summer school are now open.  Students intending to take Health this summer will need to complete the application and registration form. More detailed information and links to the forms can be found on the Adult School website.

We are continuing to meet with juniors for junior interviews.  When we return from Spring Break, we will begin meeting with sophomores for the Sophomore Small Group Workshops.  Students will receive a Hall Pass via Minga (not a paper call slip) at the time of their assigned workshop.  These 45 minute workshops are the official grade level intervention for 10th grade and allow sophomores to connect with their school counselor, peers, and the College & Career Center.

Current 9th, 10th, 11th grade students have until March 27 to review and make changes to their schedule. Please discuss your student's course selections together and follow the instructions sent out by mail and via Parent Square.

College and Career Center

On Monday, San Jose State University will host an admitted student day in the CCC when we will celebrate and discuss next steps. In addition to the MVLA Countdown to College event on Tuesday evening, students are encouraged to join part-two of the Common Application Personal Statement writing workshop on Wednesday during ACT in the CCC, and to visit the Spring Job Fair on Thursday at lunch in the quad. A reminder, we share events & opportunities with students via a bulletin on Friday afternoons and it can be viewed by anyone.
