Technology, Engineering & Design

The Technology, Engineering, and Design (T.E.D.) department is a new department on campus that hosts primarily elective course offerings that stress real world practical skills and interdisciplinary topics of study. Most courses in the department are taught by career technical certified educators and are classified as Career Technical Education (CTE) courses. This means the courses are recognized by the state to develop skills and knowledge that are relevant to local industry needs and where curriculum is guided by industry developments. The T.E.D. department is also home to the Los Altos High School Academy of Engineering and Design, a program that has students apply the skills learned in other department courses during their senior year in an Innovative Design Capstone course to create a real solution to a real problem or improvement in society.
