Tuesdays and Fridays from 2:30 to 3:45, students should feel free to drop into the Center via the Zoom link provided here:
 https://us02web.zoom.us/j/7391030176?pwd=RFg1ZXlZU08wc0Z5U21mNWFROFh5UT09
When can I use the Tutorial Center?
  • Tuesdays and Fridays from 2:30 to 3:45
  • Wednesdays from 9:30 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 2:50
  • All other school hours (by appointment only)

Tutors can help students with:
  • Understanding concepts
  • Studying for tests
  • Proofreading written assignments or college essays
  • Practicing a language
  • Mentorship and emotional health
  • And more!

From there students will be paired with a tutor or tutoring group in a breakout session monitored by the Coordinator.

Students are also welcome to access the Tutorial Center during their Wednesday asynchronous learning day from 9:30 to 12:00 and 1:00 to 2:50. Follow the same process above to access the Center on Wednesdays.

Additionally, the Center will be available during normal school hours by appointment only. These appointments are prioritized for students who received an incomplete last semester when shelter-in-place took effect, however they are open to all students. If your student needs additional help, and would like to reserve one of these time slots, please contact us via email to make an appointment with a tutor.

If you are in need of tutoring outside of normal school hours, feel free to email as well. We are working to expand our network of tutoring partnerships and already have some promising contacts.

For any further information, contact Jacob Valadez, LAHS Tutorial Center Coordinator at jacob.valadez@mvla.net.

WELCOME!

Welcome to the new Los Altos High School Tutorial Center!
Our theme for this year is Connection and we are excited to meet the challenges that this school year has to offer.
Connection is vital in so many ways, not just the ability to have access to the internet and video-conferencing that are going to make learning happen this year. Our students need a space where they can Connect to content, Connect to their peers, and Connect with the community as a whole. Stay tuned for more information about all the programs and resources that will be available this year!

INCOMPLETES

If your student received an Incomplete last semester, please reach out to Jacob Valadez via email (jacob.valadez@mvla.net), and be sure to cc your student’s counselor. There will be dedicated peer tutor hours made by appointment in order to help our students get credit for all their courses. Regardless of if your student needs to complete one assignment or twenty, there is time to catch up and our tutors can help your student focus and provide support where they can.

PEER TUTORING

We are still accepting and encouraging students to sign up for peer tutoring!
If you are a student who wants to develop their leadership, mentorship, or tutoring skills then this is a great opportunity for you. We will be revitalizing the tutoring program at Los Altos High School to make it a more fun and effective place where students can thrive, but we can’t do it without you! Peer tutoring is a great opportunity to help your community while also receiving some credit or volunteer hours. Please reach out to the Tutorial Center Coordinator here and be sure to copy your counselor.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS

If you are interested in volunteering to help with the Tutorial Center’s mission, please reach out to Jacob Valadez here. Even if you have volunteered in the past, please reach out to introduce yourself! We are always accepting volunteer tutors and will work with you to provide the best possible support for our students. Especially while many of you are working from home, taking some time to virtually support our students can be a rewarding way to make the most of this time.
