No Flying, No Tights: A Website Reviewing Graphic Novels for Teens

No Flying, No Tights: A Website Reviewing Graphic Novels for Teens

This site contains tons of reviews of comics, manga, and graphic novels. It was designed by a library technician who described the purpose like so: "I decided to create a page devoted to graphic novel reviews specifically for those who read them the most -- mainly teens -- and for those who might be involved in distributing them to teens -- namely teachers, librarians, and parents."

Phoebe Pope is a Hypha, part human, part shape shifter. She's enrolled at Green Lane Academy, which houses a traditional boarding school (Above), and a spy academy (Below). At the spy academy, Phoebe learns how to harness her power to kill the Vigo, a group of deadly shape shifters who murdered her father. At school, Phoebe balances her life between her training and her crush on Colton Chase, a boy who attends the Campus Above. These two worlds start to collide when the Vigo infiltrate Green Lane Academy in the hopes of capturing the one prophesied to hold a power so great it could tip the scales in the shape shifter war. Nya Jade has written a fun and thrilling adventure for anyone who loves the Harry Potter, Twilight, or Vampire Academy series. Like the Green Lane Academy setting, she spends equal time showing the everyday anxieties of teen romance while keeping the reader hooked with an intriguing mystery of epic proportions. Phoebe is a realistic heroine, someone who is both strong and insecure, which makes the reader root for her to get the guy and kill the enemy. Nya Jade is one of the amazing writers coming to Los Altos High School for Writers Week on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7pm in the Eagle Theater. Come and hear her in conversation with Stacey Lee, Mitali Perkins, and James Brandon. @laclassof2022 @classof2021eagle @lahsclassof2020 @mvlahsd @lahstalon @lahs_clubs #amreading #bibliophile #booknerd #bookgram #bookstagram #bookphotography #instabook #Bookstagram #authorsofinstagram #2020books #YA #yabook #booklovers #bookworm #bookish #yareads
