Welcome to Los Altos High School's 2021-21 Instrumental Music Program!

Ted Ferrucci, Director of Instrumental Music, has planned another outstanding year for the music programs on campus: Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra and Marching Band/Color Guard (MBCG) are on in Fall. Jazz Ensemble and Morning Jazz will be on in Spring. The success of these programs depends on your participation. You can ensure your student has an enriching experience in many ways: 


October 8: MBCG Halftime Show @ home football game vs Gunn
October 19: Orchestra Concert, Eagle Theatre, 7pm
October 20: Band Concert, Eagle Theatre, 7pm
October 21: MBCG Halftime Show @ home football game vs San Lorenzo
October 22: Fall Music Festival, Eagle Theatre and Football Field
October 29: Homecoming Parade and Football Game 
Note: The concerts will be held in the Eagle Theatre at half capacity, information for reserving your seat will be coming soon. Marching band shows will be at the football field.

LAHS Fall Music Festival
Enjoy the rhythms of fall with music on our lovely campus! This year’s Fall Music Festival is special, for the first time all of our instrumental music programs will be performing together! There will be food and drinks and our famous IMB cookie sale as well as amazing treasures to find at the silent auction. An opportunity to meet outdoors with other music families and see our talented students in action. Note: The marching Band and Color Guard will perform in the football field and depending on the district guidelines, the ensembles will perform in the Eagle Theater or outdoors on the steps of the theater.


LAHS Flamingo Flocking
Celebrate a birthday, an anniversary... or just brighten someone's day with 20 plastic flamingos in their yard! When purchased, an entire flock arrives in your yard of choice. The LAHS Fall Festival and Flamingo Flocking are fundraisers for Los Altos High School Instrumental Music Boosters. The funds raised support efforts to buy music, repair equipment, purchase new instruments, fund music clinicians and support staff as well as provide student scholarships. Join our elists to stay informed about instrumental music events at LAHS. From the LAHS homepage, select “E-Lists” from the navigation menu and check the box for elists #21, #22, and #23 on the subscription management screen to join the Instrumental Music and the Marching Band/Color Guard group e-lists. Be an active Instrumental Music Booster member. 

All parents of instrumental students are Instrumental Music Booster members! It's a great way to meet other parents and be involved in your student's high school life. 

Attend Music Booster Meetings. 

Share your ideas, hear the Music Director’s update, and learn what our current activities and needs are. Meetings are generally held the first Monday of the month at 7:00 PM. This year our meetings are virtual.  

Donate generously to the Music Boosters. 

Instrumental Music Boosters is the sole parent and community source of funding for the instrumental music department and pays 95% of the department’s expenses. We do not hold major fundraising events, but rely primarily on our Direct Appeal Campaign for donations from the parents and community. Donations can be made through the “Parent Membership and Donation Form” that will come in the school-wide mailing from LAHS OR directly paid to the Music Boosters. Volunteer, it's fun. 

We encourage parents to help and join the fun. Whether you are a Marching Band/Color Guard parent or not we would love to have you volunteer to help at events, rehearsals and competitions as well as behind the scenes! It is a great way to connect with other music families. Volunteer calendar and signup sheet.

Information about fundraisers and parental opportunities are posted on our website: From the LAHS homepage click “Performing Arts”, “Instrumental Music”, then “Instrumental Music Boosters.” We also send out information via the school’s e-lists.

Encourage your students to join one of the ensembles, Marching Band or Color Guard.

Please check the Instrumental Music Department website. Everyone is welcome. No music, marching or dance experience is required for MBCG! Auditions may be required for other ensembles. 
Each season of Marching Band and Color Guard qualifies for one semester PE exemption during the 10th through 12th grade years.
