Welcome to Los Altos High School's Instrumental Music Program!

 
Ted Ferrucci, Director of Instrumental Music, has planned another outstanding year for the music programs on campus: Year-round Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Orchestra. Marching Band/Color Guard (MBCG) are in the fall. Jazz Ensemble will be on in Spring. The success of these programs depends on your participation. You can ensure your student has an enriching experience in many ways.

LAHS Fall Music Festival
    
Enjoy the rhythms of fall with music on our lovely campus! This year's Fall Music Festival is special! There will be food and drinks and our famous IMB bake sale. An opportunity to meet with other music families and see our talented students in action. Note: The Marching Band and Color Guard will perform in the football field. The ensembles will perform in the Eagle Theatre.

The LAHS Fall Festival and Flamingo Flocking are fundraisers for Los Altos High School Instrumental Music Boosters. The funds raised support efforts to buy music, repair equipment, purchase new instruments, fund music clinicians and support staff as well as provide student scholarships. Be an active Instrumental Music Booster member. 

All parents of instrumental students are Instrumental Music Booster members! It's a great way to meet other parents and be involved in your student's high school life. 
 

Attend Music Booster Meetings. 

Share your ideas, hear the Music Director’s update, and learn what our current activities and needs are. Meetings are generally held the first Monday of the month at 7:00 PM. Our meetings will continue being virtual for the convenience of parents to join.
 

Donate generously to the Music Boosters. 

Instrumental Music Boosters is the sole parent and community source of funding for the instrumental music department and pays 95% of the department’s expenses. We do not hold major fundraising events, but rely primarily on our Direct Appeal Campaign for donations from the parents and community. Donations can be made through the “Parent Membership and Donation Form” that will come in the school-wide mailing from LAHS OR directly paid to the Music Boosters. To pay directly, please make check payable to: "LAHS Instrumental Music Boosters" (Memo: “Direct Appeal 2022-23”) and mail to: LAHS Instrumental Boosters c/o Gwen Byard, 1560 Thomas Court, Mountain View, CA 94040. Lastly, you can also donate by PayPal.

Volunteer, it's fun. 

We encourage parents to help and join the fun. Whether you are a Marching Band/Color Guard parent or not we would love to have you volunteer to help at events, rehearsals and competitions as well as behind the scenes! It is a great way to connect with other music families. You can email Chris for volunteer opportunities.
 

Encourage your students to join one of the ensembles, Marching Band or Color Guard.

Please check the Instrumental Music Department website. Everyone is welcome. No music, marching or dance experience is required for MBCG! Auditions may be required for other ensembles. 
 
Each season of Marching Band and Color Guard qualifies for one semester PE exemption during the 10th through 12th grade years.
