Welcome to the new Los Altos High School Tutorial Center!
Our theme for this year is Connection and we are excited to meet the challenges that this school year has to offer.
Connection is vital in so many ways, not just the ability to have access to the internet and video-conferencing that are going to make learning happen this year. Our students need a space where they can Connect to content, Connect to their peers, and Connect with the community as a whole. Stay tuned for more information about all the programs and resources that will be available this year!
Please take the time to read a welcome letter from the new Tutorial Center Coordinator, Jacob Valadez, for a more complete picture of how he will approach the year and to get to know him a little bit better.
If your student received an Incomplete last semester, please reach out to Jacob Valadez via email (email@example.com), and be sure to cc your student’s counselor. There will be dedicated peer tutor hours made by appointment in order to help our students get credit for all their courses. Regardless of if your student needs to complete one assignment or twenty, there is time to catch up and our tutors can help your student focus and provide support where they can.
We are still accepting and encouraging students to sign up for peer tutoring!
If you are a student who wants to develop their leadership, mentorship, or tutoring skills then this is a great opportunity for you. We will be revitalizing the tutoring program at Los Altos High School to make it a more fun and effective place where students can thrive, but we can’t do it without you! Peer tutoring is a great opportunity to help your community while also receiving some credit or volunteer hours. Please reach out to the Tutorial Center Coordinator here and be sure to copy your counselor.
If you are interested in volunteering to help with the Tutorial Center’s mission, please reach out to Jacob Valadez here. Even if you have volunteered in the past, please reach out to introduce yourself! We are always accepting volunteer tutors and will work with you to provide the best possible support for our students. Especially while many of you are working from home, taking some time to virtually support our students can be a rewarding way to make the most of this time.
